Here are the answers to basic questions.
What is a custom home?A custom home is like a work of art built to the exact specification of our mutual collaboration. As a home builder, we assist you in the selection of the unique features of your home. At Hillcrest Homes, we form an owner-builder team to create your home, blending the style and function of your dreams with the property of your choice. If you already own a lot, we can custom design a home which fits in the surroundings, if you need to find a lot our qualified associates can help. The end result is a home designed for you. We will merge your wants and needs with your property and budget, always keeping in mind the active resale market and the features desired by future buyers.
How much will this cost?Following a brief meeting or phone conversation, we will explore your needs. If you have a lot we will design the proper home within your targeted budget. The cost of plans are additional to our building fee's and are required prior to giving exact cost.
This price includes everything except for the lot itself, from permits, to 100% completion including landscaping and other amenities desired per your specifications. We don't try to get people in the door with a low square footage price and then have constant upgrades, mark-ups, and hidden costs. Our homes are priced competively for the quality represented. "Price per square foot" can easily get to be a game if people don't realize the basic concept behind it. Generally speaking, a smaller home will cost more per square foot than a larger home because there is less square footage to divide things into. Then again, in larger homes the client would usually want more special things, like a true climate controlled wine cellar and home theaters, which of course drive up the cost per square foot. Large or small though, the things behind the walls, like the HVAC and electrical system, are far superior to anything else we have ever seen. People don't always realize it, since the things that truly make their home exceptional are rarely on display, but that is the kind of home we want to build, quality in all the right places, even where you can't see.
Who will actually be building my home?We work with the best in all fields of residential construction, from large companies that specialize in high end components to smaller companies that work for us. Having been in home construction for over 25 years, we are very cognizant of who the best trades are in their given fields, and which are the best fit for us. Regardless of size, our trade contractors have to pass rigorous insurance, safety, and financial tests to partner with Hillcrest Homes. Once that is achieved, they can be assured of prompt payment by Hillcrest quickly and accurately upon job or phase completion. In addition to timely payment, we provide clean, safe building sites for our partners. Consequently, the best tradesmen from the best companies prefer to work on our jobs.
What separates us from other custom builders? What sets us apart from the rest of the builders is our very direct involvement every step of the way. We assist our clients as the design unfolds to pick out all of the components that will make up the home. We are budget conscious. All of the features selected for your home are interactive. It is imperative that the builder be involved to ensure all of these relationships will in fact work physically as well as financially. Even if clients choose to go with an outside design company or architect; we still want to be involved from the onset to assist in the myriad of decisions. As you know, the plans are only one crucial part of many that make up the final product.
We strive to build the best quality home possible, regardless of size or cost. Our homes are inspected by an outside municipal agency before, during, and after the construction process, and also continuously by our site superintendents and also by the president of Hillcrest Homes on a regular basis.
We maintain a workload of projects that are manageable. We have in the past developed entire subdivisions and built every home in them, we now are focused on building less homes. We are as selective to whom we build homes for as to what homes we will build, we're not looking to build many homes, just the right ones, with our small team involved, together, throughout the design and construction process, as well as, taking care of customer service needs should they arise years after you are living in your home. You will not see a parade of different faces with Hillcrest Homes, just the same reliable ones you will grow to depend upon and trust.
